The Dry Eye Academy was established out of Dr. Mosaddegh’s passion for the field. As a young resident, she quickly realized that performing a smooth surgery did not produce the expected outcome if the ocular surface was not well balanced and healthy. Her interest in dry eye diseases was born out of this early observation, which predates the invention of most of the new technologies. She embraced the technological advancements in treating dry eye conditions based on her fundamental understanding for the need for better treatments in the field. She firmly believes that the ocular surface health is a main determinant of the quality of a patient’s vision in any eye surgery, or ophthalmic disease management. Dr. Mosaddegh believes that this field needs to be recognized as its own subspecialty, where experienced doctors with expertise can train other doctors. The Dry Eye Academy is aiming to create a platform within the ophthalmic care profession towards this goal. The expert panel in this meeting is made of highly respected professionals who have paved the way towards the realization of this mission. We are honored to have some of the very best in the field of dry eye management teaching practical methods of treating this disease category.
